Message: Fished Mornington Pier yesterday morning (5/3) - lots of small squids around, and managed to get 8 even at the relatively unfavourable low slack tide at noon.

Message: Thanks Frank,
Were you fishing down deep (paternoster style)?
Good to hear squid can be caught in the middle of the day at mornington.

Message: Hi Glen,
I usually prefer to fish the squid jigs freely sinking; I only tend towards the paternoster style when I have to cast against a strong unfavourable wind.
I also noticed a few squid enthusiasts having homemade weighted contraptions for sliding down their lines to retrieve snagged jigs. Looked interesting, and successful too - this would have saved me a fortune spent in snagged and lost jigs over the years!
