Hi all you squidders,

me and dad are looking at going squddign at Mornington pier this arvo (Sat 6.4.02) and asking for any advice on jig types, best time etc as we don't know much about catching squid

Sorry Ben but this is a slow motion chat board so nothing much happens in the same day.

Your best chance is to go down to the pier in the evening when they turn the lights on. Go on a warmish night and don't go when the water is dirty (i.e. stirred up from wind).

Use smallish jigs in pink or orange and be persistent. you will get a lot of squid that follow the jig but don't take it. Why? I spose they see too many jigs! If you go to a less-fished area, squid tend to be a lot easier to catch. Has anyone else found this?
