Mornington Pier is firing for small squids. Anyone hoping for some action from the squids will find this spot as good as any other. I caught my bag limit in an hour, just before noon.

Regards.

Tried Mornington Pier last Tuesday morning (13/8/02). There was a noticeable catch of good-sized arrow squids taken by various anglers. I managed 2 small calamari squids and an aggressive arrow squid. What made this quite memorable was the 2 arrow squids attacking my prawn jig at the same time -as I was lifting them up, one of them dropped off. It would have been a rare occasion to haul up two big squids following a single cast!

Apart from the squids, some other anglers were getting into small barracouta.

Tried mornington pier last night but the fishing was no good. I saw two small squid caught. I had no luck and managed to lose a nice jig. bugger.

I don't think the squid at Mornington has fired up yet. Am going tonight to give it a try, but when it does fire up it's a great spot.
But the downfall of it is to expect people fishing about a metre or two if that away from you during the day.
