Message: Hey
I got hooked on Squid Fishing last summer on Holidays in South AUstralia and Tasmania. Now I want to keep it up. Does anyone know where there are good squid fishing spots around Brisbane.

Still haven't found any around Brisbane. Mud Crabs you can get in most estuaries, Pumicestone passage, Pine river and southern Moreton bay.
good Luck

Message: i thought you could get nothern calamary up there. this is a slightly different to the southern calamary species you would have caught in SA. However i think they are very similar so you might not notice the difference.
Unfortunately i don't know where u can fish either. Surely there must be someone out there from Qld?
Best of luck, GLen

fishing the waters of south oz and currently living on kangaroo island, a move to the gold coast will be a bit of a shock to the system.
New techniques, rigs, baits, places to fish and species of fish to target, there is so much to learn. So if you see a 45 year old acting and watching ,like a 10 year old,it's probably only me.I am a avid believer that local knowledge - catches the fish.
Thanks for any info.

KI is one of the places I fished on the south coast. Got a great squid off the Jetty at Kingskote. Great place.
Yeah the fishing down south was so much more abundent than up here.
I think watching the locals where ever you are is the best idea and get the local knowledge. Live bait too is probably a good general principle.
Lots of whuiting and Bream around off the beaches and in the bays - that is probably the most common up here.
The pine river near Bald Hills is a good place for river fishing. I was just down at Iluka in Northern NSW - about 3 1/4 hours SOuth of Brisbane - It was great fishing off the beach and off the rocks.
I'll keep an eye out for you - and if you get a squid let me know.
