Hopefully, you could receive my message. I have known that you are studying the squid nad reproduction.

We are a group of scuba diver in Taiwan who would like to do the study on the squid either. We are going to prepare to build a habitate for squid reproduction undersea in between 15~18 meters at the northeast of Taiwan. Since we have shortage information in Taiwan refer to the squid reproduction, we would request for your advice in the following matter.

1) We are going to build the habitate using bamboo construction undersea water, do you think it will work?

2) What's the advice or basic preparation to have in order to have the result? temperature? depth? environment?

3) Normally, when is the period for squid reproduction? The temperature now in Taiwan is about 35 degree, and undersea water for 15m is about 25degree c in the day time. The fall will be coming, and the undersea temperature will go from 25 degreec to around 15 degree c in the winter time.

4) Which web site can I get more information on this topic?

Your sincere cooperation is very much appreciated.

Thank you and best regards.

car tyres make pretty good artificial reef and if chained together and tethered well they should last for years to come , probably much longer than bamboo !

hi jason,

are you interested in simply studying reproduction or do you want to increase spawning by providing additional spawning areas to (and thus increase overall squid biomass)? is there a shortage of spawning areas to begin with?

we are not fisheries scientists but we are interested in squid and will help out where we can. i am currently on holidays so i can't refer to any of my books.

contact me in a month or so and i will try to help out,

regards,

glen

We are doing this report on squid reproduction for bio. We were wandering how squid reproduce as in asexual or sexual. How do they fertilize, internal or external. Also it would help if you can give us good sites to go research on. It would be a great help thank you!

regards,

John

reproduction is sexual . The male uses a (at)special(at) tentacle to pass the sperm packets on to the female (seen it on Discovery channel)
