Message: Can anyone tell me how severe a bite from the beak of a squid could be and also does the ink contain anything that is harmful, say if it got into an eye ?

A bite from a squid can take a finger off in no time and the arrow squid is even more aggressive in their bites and will try to fold themselves backwards to take a bite at you this isnt the case with southern squid but nonetheless will give you a nasty bite. No known toxins in squid ink and Ive copped my fair share of squirts in the eye mouth up the trouser leg without any ill effect excpt when I hadf to wipe it off with a stinky bait towel eeeewwwwwww the ink is more of a camoflage so its attacker cant see it and a way to fend of or frighten a fish
