How important is the jig action in a jig?

I am asking because I just bought some cheap yo-zuri type imitation jigs and I noticed that they fall tail first in the water rather than head first like with the yo-zuri and yamashita jigs

Jig action plays a good part in catching squid
but you should be more interested in colors rather than action and my tried and proven theory that lures dont always work with squid
I have caught more squid on the cheap ones and find yo -zuris easy to snag for some reason.
When I was little I used to catch heaps of squid with a paint brush handle painted white with a few fish hooks wired to the end ( dad got sick of me losing his good ones)and that my friend caught squid after squid If you have the knowledge
and know how you can catch squid with painted stick
