Subject: Monster squid jig!!

Did anybody see the huge squid jig's that JV marine was selling at this year's boat show? Mate! they were the biggest jig's I've ever seen in my life, must have been 20CM long and weighed 200 gram's, I was gonna hang one off my car mirrior for a good luck charm,I thought they were a gimmick but the sale's man said they weren't, I said you gotta be kidding! where the hell would you use something like that! I bet you haven't sold many? he replied that he'd sold heap's, he said guy's fishing the rip have been asking for something like this for year's, because there so heavy you dont have to put heap's of sinker's on your line to get the jig deep in the strong current's of the rip, I'm still not convinced! how come all the major jig manufacturer's make their jig's small? if anyone out there has used these thing's and caught anything! on them I'd like to hear! I fish the rip regulary and dont have any problem's with normal size jig's, the boat just drift's with the current and the jig's just sink naturally as the boat move's with it, if I anchor then the jig's float near the surface, but only when the current is flowing at it's strongest, but I usually use baited sand whiting if I do that because there heavier, but I drift mostly to cover more ground, any comment's are welcome, regards peter d.
