Once you defrost your squid can you take the leftover squid and freeze it again and then defrost it again for later use? Or is this unsafe?

I recently read that it's unsafe to refreeze any meat, especially fish. It's even unsafe to unfreeze the meat, then cook it and freeze it after cooking it (which surprised me). Admittedly, I've done that.
