Hi Zex!!! Thanks for posting the pic. Did it take very long to catch the squids?
Cheers, Glen
Hi Glen!
There was ideal conditions - 2 days before new moon, sunrise, top of tide, good position. Take up to 30 minutes, not more.

I haven't been back there for about 4yrs but know that it can be fairly easy to catch squid, specially if you have access to a boat and a good lantern at night. It's just a matter of finding them and then it's on.

Hi Ivan!
You're right, when all conditions are ok, you can catch much of them.
Pozdrav

Here is squidding mass, we are catching them a lot and in many ways.
Montenegro is the difference, there is a lot more fish than here. For this reason they are not interested in squid.
Happy 2010 to all!

You have to buy a license (sold at any tourist office) and also look at the number of sticks (three) and hook into them (also the most three). Limit to catch a 5 kg per day. Respect for the police to control common.
There are lots of different fish, bass and also come and try.

Hello fishyrob. There are lots of positions for fishing off the coast of Croatia. I only hunt from a boat, so I do not know exactly where the best position to shore anglers, but I see them everywhere.

Thanks Zex. Excellent information
I think I might. I am out in Czech in July for a canoe trip. I might just extend it by a week and come and have a poke around. Only problem is its my busiest time in the UK. What would you say is generally the best time of year for fishing around Croatian shores?

Fishing season here is all year, but different fish have different seasons.
When you decide when to come i will tell you what fish is in that time.

I'm due for a couple of days in Croatia next week (25th of June to the 5th of July 2010) - can you recommend anywhere to visit for fishing? I'm especially interested in landing some squid - the bigger the better! Is it squid season at the moment? I can get access to a boat - does fishing from a boat for squid in croatia require any paperwork at all?
Thanks for your help! Can't wait to land a delicious squid!

P.S. Can you recommend any airline to fly back to the UK with? I've seen these guys, netjets, advertised on several newspapers, but not really sure how much they charge?

Squid season is not now in Croatia. Best time for squidding here is from november to february.
In this moment you can fishing, from boat (rent is cheap, about 50 euro for small boat per day).
About paperwork, you must have fishing licence (about 20 euro per 3 day or 40 per 7 day). For boat you must have driving licence for any boat longer than 3 m. All international licences are valid.
Where exactly you go? What city? I can recomend some hotspots to you.

Thanks for the response. I'm flying into Split and then renting a car. Haven't got any plans on where to go yet but want to get away from the crowds and just spend some nice quiet time. Have been to Krk before and thought it was lovely, but had to leave before I got to do any fishing.
That's a shame about the squid. I guess there's other fishing to be had though? Where would you recommend visiting? I'd like to spend a couple of nights in a nice quiet town or village with good fishing then spend the rest camping somewhere.
Thanks for your help!
Matt
