Gday Glenn and fellow squidders
I cant confirm that report but going by reports the bay is absolutely teeming with squid with reports comming from all around the bay with Queenscliff said to be very very productive both by boat and on the pier the latter of which Im hoping to hit in the next few days which is great since Ive been out of action for almost a year. looking forward to lodging a report.
Cheer and good squidding to you all

I'm new to this forum and the area.
I will be launching from Altona ramp...
Are there any good spots for squid between Williamstown and Point Cook that I should check out?
Any general pointers or places would be very much appreciated.
cheers
Dave

Started off at Willy Footy Ground, headed out to P2 then the Spoil Ground not much happening.
So we changed tacks and head in closer trying a few spots around Point Cook and Altona.
Caught a few flatties, but couldn't find any takers for the squid jigs.
Pointers towards productive grounds such as rough area and/or depths would be much appreciated.
cheers

Drifting over weed beds in 2-6mtrs.
I usually have a weighted bait under float 20-30mtrs out back.
Cast and working lures seems to get the bulk.

I tried altona pier a few days ago and no luck either. Wind was against me and pretty strong, alot of other people fishing there too. Tried for an hour and gave up.
Have also tried beaumaris and brighton pier in the past week with no success. Anybody had any success anywhere else around Melbourne?

Anybody can show me some areas where the squid are around the north?
i know in front of the RAAF base and a few reefs around altona. i also heard in the reefs in front of the willy footy grounds. YET to try any of these spots.
I have never caught a squid up north and im hoping to get my first !
