Has any one tried "Proper" land based fishing for Calamari and Squid?
I have caught many from the boat, especially over the passed 2 months.
I really hate going to a jetty and dealing with people, my idea of fishing is getting away and finding solitude.
I can think of many locations around where i live on the Great Ocean Rd where weed beds are with in casting distance from the rocks.
I guess the biggest problem might be finding calm water with little current and i can see landing a good size fish would be hard when you are landbased on rocks, very hard to get a net behind them.
I have got to thinking about this approach, as we have been having a lot of success in the boat in shallow waters close to shore (100meters from land)
We had one particular afternoon run, at dead low tide at 3pm in full sunlight, and it was almost a Calamari per cast for an hour or so.... Any jig seemed to produce too.
