Sibu kelon - Tips for someone who just started squid fishing - weechou - 13-08-2008

Hi guys... i am 22 years old from singapore... just got into squid fishing... will be going to Sibu kelong coming septemeber....few questions to ask...



what rods will u guys recommend that is available in singapore?

what reels will u guys recommend that is available in singapore?

anything to look out for on a kelong?

what do i need to note?

hello,

I am from Taiwan.

I suggest you buy the reel is shimano 2500s BB.

The rod is about 8.2 or 8.3 feet, weight is about 110g ~130g fuji concept.

Cause my gf will be joining me at pulau sibu this sept...



wanted to get a rod for her so she wouldnt feel so board there....



Currently i am using Lemax Black Rose 7" and a Daiwa Reel... will be getting another set if there is no specific rod and reel for squids...

Hi wee chou by the time you have seen this post, your trip might be well over ...hahah



at Sibu Kelong use small jigs (those size 2 ones)cast out but dun drop vertically bottom as the snags there are crazy, cast and wait for it to reach the bottom (normally it could be gauged from the slack line ), then slowly retrieve with a few twitches, the key to this is the slow retrieve. You will get the normal Che Bak or Bak Dao .

Hey ! I am a Singaporean too, 14 Years Old ! I just wanna ask if Orange and Blue Colour Squid Jigs work on Sibu Kelong ?

When i cast out my Jig and let it sink, it tend to Sangkot. Whta can i do ?
