i don't know about the squid braid or the rods,

but about the knots

if you are worried about tying an allbright, a double uni-knot will finish with the tag end facing toward the reel

it will cast well but it is a 'lumpy knot'

the allbright is the best for casting as it is a smooth knot and if tied well can be trimmed back hard against the knot itself

however if not tied right it will just undo itself when trimmed short

both knots are basically twice the thickness of the mono
