What I've read about squid seems to indicate they prefer some structure, and I think that Locarno Pier is devoid of anything other than a flat sandy bottom. I was thinking of trying somewhere like Barnet Marine Park, near Port Moody. It's some distance to go, but I think the bottom would be more squid friendly, but I really don't have a clue!!! I do have a boat (moored in West Van), but still don't know where would be a good place to go. I have bought some jigs, and will definitely give it a shot once it warms up a little, and will report back. I thought of trying some of the saltwater fishing forums, but they seem mostly to deal with Salmon and Hali's and there were a few reports regarding the humbolts last summer.
