Snorkeling & Squiding
#1
Will be heading off to Aruba in a couple of days. When snorkeling, I always come across many schools of squid ( you guys know where this is headed). Of course I want to try to catch a few for bait and tried last year with a hand line and a 3.0 squid jig. They came right up to the jig but didn't attack it. From what I gather from these forums maybe they weren't in a feeding mood. This year I purchased a few Pink 2.5 jigs as the majority of you feel pink is the best. Would appreciate any thoughts or ideas. <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/blueboxbullet.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Smile' />

try a smaller jig and you might have more luck. go down to size 2 <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Smile' />

Still in Aruba as I write this, Yes the pink Jig worked the best. caught quite a few while snorkling. Quite a sight to see when your in the water. Amazing how much ink a single squid can release in the water. Sometimes it takes quite a bit of coaxing to get a squid to hit the jig. Any ideas or thoughts on best tecniques would be appreciated.

Will be hheaded back to Aruba in a few days, will be well equipped thanks to these forums. After much research I hope to be more successful this year trying smaller 2.0 jigs. Will try using scents on my cloth jigs as well. Will keep you posted!<img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/images2.jpg' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Confusedq:' /> <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/thumbsup2.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':thumbsup2:' />

Squid! Squid! Squid!

Tried my new Jigs that I purchased all over the world, Japan, China, etc. Today I used a 2.0 pink cloth Yo-Zuri, floating mini and an old scent that I applied to it. (Not sure what it is the label is missing) I was amazed at how many squid were try to attack it at the same time! I caught 4 squid in a matter of minutes. At to cut it short as there was quite a few people swimming who were observing me, don't want to snag a swimmer. Glen many thanks to you for your suggestions and these forums. <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/thumbsup2.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':thumbsup2:' /> <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/thumbsup2.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':thumbsup2:' /> <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/thumbsup2.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':thumbsup2:' /> ss

More squid today & yesterday, used a Yo-zuri Aurie-q RS Ultra EGI. The best way to discribe this jig is it has a prism-like effect. It has a combination of pink & purple colors and is 2.0 sinking. I am giving a very thorough discription as I can tell you first hand how attracted they are to this jig, once I found the school of squid they all would approach it with out hesitation. It did take a bit of coaxing to hook them in the water, but this one is the best that I used so far.<img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/thumbsup2.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':thumbsup2:' /> <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/thumbsup2.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':thumbsup2:' /> <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/thumbsup2.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':thumbsup2:' />

Again more squid today using the pink jig. I came across a pod of some very nice large size squid seems they were a bit more aggressive today than yesterday. Oh well only one more day left in Aruba. <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/images2.jpg' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Confusedq:' />
