Glen Is In China - But Where Are The Fish?
#21
That is actually not all the jigs I bought but the only ones I left out were a few cheapie Chinese made ones that I bought. They were "no brand" but looked ok.

I actually boat more float fishing stuff than squid fishing stuff.

I tried out my 4 metre pole at mt martha on sunday. Now I realise it really is too short for this spot unless the garfish come up real close!! Any they never turned up so I didn't do much with it! Oh well. Live and learn!

One of the shops I went to in Hong Kong was "warehouse" like. It was called SEVEN ISLANDS.

Here are some of the places I went:

Po Kee Fishing Tackle Co. Ltd.

1st Floor, 6 Hillier Street

Sheung Wan, Hong Kong

TRITON FISHING EQUIPMENT CO

Wan Chai Shop

1/F.&2/F.,Pinnacle Building,

9 Ship Street, Wan Chai, Hong Kong.

TelSad852) 2866-8551

SEVEN ISLANDS HONG KONG CO.

RM 605, 6/F Bonham Commercial Centre.,

44-46 Bonham Strand West,

Sheung Wan, Hong Kong

I also went to the 3 market stalls at the Sham Shui Po market (north end of Apliu St...ie the Dragon centre end. I tried bargaining here but was not terribly successful! <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':boat:' />

I also stumbled across one other store with a big "fishing" sign out the front (and some chinese name i can't remember) that actually had a cool squid fishing tshirt but they wanted $240hkd for it so I decided it was too expensive <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':wh' />

i went to Hongkong early last year, and yes their tackle shops are quite different - the ones that stock the "goods" are generally rude and somehow not will to deal with the public - very weird. in some instance, I had to "pretend" to be a dealer in order to get in their shop (more like a stock room) to have a look... <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/zorro.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Rolleyes' />

Their stocks are very different from here. its basically all jap domestic models, and i didnt find any familar fishing rods. was lucky that i found some nice daiwa reels. they do bulk deals so if you order over like $1000 you get 30% off the total <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Smile' /> picked up some luvias for about $240 each with the killer conversion rate, along with enough gama hooks and jigheads that would last a long time <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Smile' />[/quote]

i think it's because of u went into wholesale stores...of courese they don't like people just buy few stuffs and go...

also it's much more expensive to get things from those stores if you just get 1 or 2 things, unless you know the owner

by the way, one of the best fishing product stores in hong kong is nearby the old hong kong airport in kowloon city, i can show you guys if have chance...

i will go back to hong kong at the end of july

Haha...they usually raise the prize up to the one who is not a local

The prices were marked on most of the items. So unless they give locals a big discount then I think I paid the normal retail price!

It would be good to get the address for the shop near the old hong kong airport in kowloon city. i would like to make a note of it for next time <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Rolleyes' />
