Squidding For Kingfish
#1
Chartered a boat with 3 mates in Pittwater(N beaches of Sydney)

Squid was the key bait as the fish ignored lures etc.

Had a terrific time and a bonus was 3 good fish over 2' & 6lb

G'day Kingyfisher...

Just curious as I've always used jigs to catch kingies....how do u hook the squid on...live or dead?

Traces? hook size? sinker?....need some info if possible.

Gids, sorry for the late reply I've been away on vacation.

Use good quality ,Owner & gammagatsu livebait hooks size 4/0-6/0 ,put the point of the hook through the tip of the hood(make sure it's centered and that the squid doesn't spin)

Use sinkers to suit the depth & current. Some people use a 'stinger 'trailing hook or strong treble.

Neveer use less than 30lb line or you are wasting your time!
