Squid Fishing In Cambodia
#1
Hi everyone, I am trying to collect some information about squid fishing in the Kingdom of Cambodia.

It appears that the word "squid" in Khmer (Cambodian) is មឹក.

Here is a map of the regions/provinces of Cambodia.

You will see that the coastal provinces include Koh Kong, Kampot and Sihanoukville (Kampong Som).

There is also an island called Koh Kong and there are cities called Sihanoukville and Kampot so its easy to mix these up.

The Khmer word "Koh" means "island".

Squid species caught in Cambodia include Loliginidae and Sepiolidae squids.

Cuttlefish and squid are caught by commercial fisherman throughout the year.

A fair bit of the commercial squid catch is exported to Thailand, Australia and China.

Baan Jek Bae or Jek Bae Village is a small community in the east of Aow Salak Petch. It is good for squid fishing.

Also there is good squid fishing around Koh Mapring and Koh Chang Noi.

If you can provide any more information it would be very much appreciated!

Cheers, Glen
