South Coast Squid Fishing, NSW
#1
G'day Everyone. Only recently stumbled across this great site and wanted to say hello to everyone.

Squid fishing is one of my favourite past times with the majority of it being done around Jervis Bay, with great success. If anyone needs any advice of great spots down south way let me know, only more then happy to help.

The squid fishing over the christmas break was excellent by the way down our way. We would consistenly bag out daily.

Anyways all the best to everyone.

All the squid fishing I do is from the boat, but occasionaly we will have a bit of a try from a few of the wharfs around the area.

I mostly squid within the bay, but there are some really good spots offshore too.

WOW.... finally I have found a fellow South Coast Squid Fisher. I used to get quite a few just off Yellow Rocks off Batemans Bay, but I haven't even been out since the marine park came into effect (thanks to 2 jobs and 4 courses at the same time). I'm looking forward to getting out there and trying some new spots. Any ideas folks?

I was down the coast for a wedding on Sunday, but managed an hour and a half at my favorite spot on the way home. Managed 7 in very gusty conditions, and despite a lot of dolphins working in close (I suspect they were chasing the same thing I was! <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Tongue' /> ). Best jig of the day was my new Shrimphunter premium in pink, the same jigs in brown and green didn't get a look in, scored a couple on the pink Emeraldas as well. The kayak was a little worse for wear after the session <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tongue.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Tongue' /> Flash fried salt and pepper calamari for tea tonight was the sweet taste of victory! <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/xyxthumbs.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':lol' />

hahaha! Nice work! I still haven't been fishing much lately. Though I am going to Portland and Warrnambool next weekend so maybe I will catch something while I am there! <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':lol' />

Hi south Coast Suid Fishermen,

I am a relatively new to the area and are keen to catch some squid.

My location is Coledale - near Wollongong.

So far I have caught some suid at Bellambi and was wondering if anyone has any other spots they would be willing to share?

Will post my catches.

Simon

I fish out of Mossy Point, Batemans Bay and Moruya Heads. After catching a few squid near Broulee Island a few years ago I bought a heap of jigs but have had little success since. Just returned from Whyalla where we caught heaps. So I'm going to try again having been able to observe squid behaviour at Whyalla. Any suggestions on where I should try? From a boat.

I live in Kiama but my other home is Port Lincoln. Done a bit of squidding both areas.... gotta say, there's something about the Spencer Gulf and squid!! I can fish over here and not get anything for weeks, but there's always plenty about over that way . Gotta love SA
