Do Woman Catch Bigger Squid Than Men?
#1
Has there been any sort of statistical analysis on the average female-caught squid mass vs male-caught?

[post="5434"]<{POST_SNAPBACK}>[/post]
I added a poll to this topic so we can gather some data for you <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':th' />

Views of both men and woman are welcome!

Please vote! <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Smile' />

Haha, nice topic.

I think you'll find that the 'no' side of the poll will be more worked over than the 'yes' side purely on the presumption that there are more male fishos out there then females.

Waiting to be proven wrong... <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/whistling.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':th' />

interesting... my fishing partner can sit around read a book with her jig jut dangled around the pylons then pick up the rod hav a cast and catch right in the zone i worked for 10minutes before hand. we use the exact same retreives and jigs and still shes got that luck. actually once our jigs were like a metre apart and i felt the squid on mine called out its heavy all of a sudden the squid droped my jig latched onto hers and shes just said yeh well not as heavy as mine. shes got all the luck

Squidfishing is fun - surprised at the poll results actually.

On the Goat Is. bridge in Newport RI a few weeks ago, I saw a woman just bailing on squid - whatever she was doing, she really had the hot hand. <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/thumbsup2.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Smile' />

The last 4 out of 5 squidding trips my girlfriend has caught more (and bigger) squid than me......despite using similar jigs and techniques. I ask her for her secret, and she says 'I'm just doing what you told me'. Funny how it doesn't work as well for me though. <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/mad.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Smile' /> <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tongue.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Tongue' />

Hey, has anyone had a look at the history of Salmon fishing in the uk, record still resides with a Miss Georgina Ballantyne for a monster fish of 64lb on the river Tay in 1922.

I know its a finfish but I have heard its all to do with the Pheromones. Perhaps emancipation on behalf of the male fishing contingent is a requirement too. <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/whistling.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Smile' />

haha, interesting theory! I always go squiding with my girlfriend and recently she outfished me in numbers <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Smile' /> but she always gets the smaller ones as she likes to use smaller jigs and also having trouble landing the big ones <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Smile' />

Me missus, CC, outsquids my buddies and I put together. She pulls up not only more squids than the 3 of us, she also pulls up bigger squids than we do, and gets snagged lesser than us. I don't know what her "secret" is, since I was the one that taught her how to use that reel and jig. <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/mad.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Smile' />
