gday glen,

it was low tide and a full moon so maybe that had something to do with it <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/crying.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':woot:' /> . we started at the carpark right at the end of "the esplanade"...

Cheers

Hi guys,

I found a photo of my only successful trip to Altona (I've been once since with no luck). It was in the beginning of October last year, moonless night, incoming tide (probably about half way in), I remember we got 4 of the flounder on the left hand side of the pier, and the other 2 to the right of the pier. Most of the flounder were in VERY shallow water (15-20cm). We got these fish in about 2.5 hours. I generally find with floundering that it's a case of "they're there" or "they're not" - this probably sounds obvious, but the fact that you see nothing on a particular night doesn't mean that at a different stage of the moon, or tide, there won't be more fish about.

after 1hr of wading around and only seeing tiny baitfish, the call was made "the fish arent here tonight" ;-)

i'll give it another crack when its a new moon <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Rolleyes' />
