Fishing reports
#1
Went to margate jetty this morning but way too packed but a good sign that squid are about with how many I saw being caught, pushed onto Woodbridge jetty and just as packed. Had my first jig in the water by 4am and the conditions couldn't have been any more perfect, high tide and not a ripple on the water, just had to watch where you step with all the fresh ink all over the jetty! lol

Using a pink kmart brand yozuri lookalike with a glow in the dark belly sized 3.5 I caught 3 average calamari and 5 arrows, the arrows being a first for me, I was surprised at how fast they swim in their swarms and more importantly how aggressive they took my offering. I stayed about an hour before cleaning them at the jetty before the drive back to Hobart and something tasty for lunch today,

Hopefully you're all having a bit of my luck, cheers!

I'll keep them coming as often as I can get a line in :-)

Not that it's related, I got 8 400mm flatties and a 330mm silver trevally off the midway point causeway this morning...

Gotta love workers comp and being paid to fish lol

Sweet, let me know how it goes... I want to head down to Woodbridge again this weekend to try for some more, but there's a fair bot of sucking up to the missus before I can say I'm definitely going... Shouldn't have forgot valentines day yesterday lol

Went to Woodbridge again this morning and it hardly seems worth it for the 10 mins of fishing compared to the hours drive each way but let me tell you, it was definitely worth it! 8 casts turned into 7 calamari and 1 arrow!

Should make for an awesome feed this arvo

I just started a new topic on arrow squid and then read this.

please tell me how to catch one of these massive arrows. the bodies on the few i saw were probably near 60cm, i dunno if this is normal size and the same size as what you guys are catching but i'd love to know if you're doing anything different to normal calamari fishing.

it could be that i'm just a useless squid fishermanSad
