Ok sally, here is the news on port phillip bay. i tried mornington pier the other night and it was useless!!!! so i wouldn't bother at the moment.

if you must go tonight then grab yourself some smallish (size 2.0) yamashita jigs in pink and hope you have some luck. you can tie the jig directly to the line and cast...let it sink...retrieve etc.

if this doesn't work then try to attach an extra bit of line to the eye of the squid jig and attach a small sinker to it...this way the sinker will sit about a metre under the jig and will "drag" along the bottom...while the jig is up higher and hopefully you won't get snagged. this will help to get down deeper...this can be good sometimes.

try around jetty lights at night time. squid are attracted to these areas. also look for blank ink on the jetty...this is a good sign that squid have been caught in the area.

hope this helps,
glen
