I just had a thought, you know the deal with box jellyfish and lifeguards in North Queensland wearing pantyhose to protect them?... Well, I thought maybe if you could cover your bait with some pantyhose material, the lice couldn't eat it, but the smell and look would be unaffected for the squid.
Maybe someone with a forgiving missus who has some old stocking socks could do the experiment.
