Herring spotted around Plymouth...wonder if they are in the canal?   Got first striper of season this weekend...from shore...boat still not ready yet.  Trying hard to find someone to connect with and get some squid....they should be here very soon

What color jigs do you get the best results on? I have always gone from a pier and this will be my first year I go from a boat. Any size or color suggestions?

Reel good charters, was it a keeper or schoolie?

NOAA shows a surface water temp at 47.1F today for Woods Hole.

Any updates on any floating docks already in for surrounding area of Hyannis or Hyannis?

Can out of state anglers fish in MA? Will out of state anglers be able to launch a boat in Hyannis? I would be trailering up from CT if allowed. Thanks,

I don't see any restriction in MA yet. A bud of mine live near Plymouth n he says the ramp r open.

Thank you for that 1BigSquid. As a CT resident I normally keep my boat in PT. Judith area on a trailer. It is at a private residence. It is unclear from the rules you sent whether I can bring the boat to its location. Once there I am two miles from the state ramp in Galalee. I can avoid people if they allow me to launch. I would hate to trailer up there and be forced to turn around. Although the boat is registered in RI, the truck and trailer are registered in CT. Not sure what they will do if they see a CT truck and trailer at the parking lot of the launch site. All very confusing. Thanks again.

Squid Fox - the striper was pretty nice for this early - it was 25" but not a legal keeper.

All - Gloucester, MA has banned recreational boating until further notice.  Only emergency services and boats with commercial licenses are permitted.

Water temp up here in Scituate, MA is 49.1 in the harbor so I'm thinking it should be getting good down by Hyannis especially is the shallower water.  Anybody get out yet or hear anything more?

Latest info is out of state rec boaters can fish in RI waters, but cannot land there.   Out of state charter boats with non residents are prohibited in RI waters.

It's a mis mash of conflicting rules.  It screws out of state boat owners that keep their boats in RI marinas.

I am waiting to see how JT and Newport police patrol and control the areas that are frequently used for squid fishing. Good luck fishing goat island causeway this year they may use this to shut it down altogether.

Yeah, can you imagine the locals keeping 6 feet between them when one of them starts pulling in squid?   Or wearing masks?  Or gloves?

I somehow can't picture that.

But it may not matter.  RI has universally closed parking along the shoreline throughout narragansett already, and they will likely do it all over.   If you can't park, you won't be able to fish very easily unless someone drops you off.

I'm all ready to go I have some underwater green led lights and completed a battery box with 2 gel batteries for my kayak. Best social distance fishing tool out there.

Plus you don't need a ramp to launch from. Wink

A kayak or boat will be the way to squid this Spring. For those who have never used a kayak be careful because you won’t last long in the cold water unless you have a wetsuit. I found out the hard way while many years ago! Going to miss a lot of my out of state friends onshore this year unless the restrictions are lifted. But it is more important to stay safe.
