Has anyone seen if the work on the seawall area over at Goat Island has been completed? All winter up until two weeks ago, they have had the whole parking area blocked off with a chainlink fence. I'll probably swing by there this weekend to check it out.

On a plus note, street parking will be allowed after Apr. 30 this year, because of the virus.

The sea wall area before going over to Goat Island is completely fenced. It’s a gated fence from the bridge to the park including all the parking places. I’m not in construction but it looks like it’s a long way from being finished. It looks like social distancing isn’t the real issue for squid season. It is all dug up and it looks like they are putting in new concrete all the way around the bulkhead. It would be impossible to squid on that side plus there is no place to park along the bulkhead.

Maybe it's intentional, possibly to keep us from squid fishing.

They were working on part of it last fall. It looked like a much bigger project when I saw them working today.

Saturday weather look very promising. :boat:

Massachusetts.

All fishing regulations, including licenses, are still in effect during the State of Emergency and Stay at Home Advisory. The revenue generated from license sales goes directly toward conservation, research, stocking, education, and restoration. . Outdoor activities, and travel to and from those activities, are still permitted. All residents should practice social distancing by remaining 6 feet away from other people while participating in outdoor activities. Outdoor users should avoid gathering in groups larger than 10 people. MassWildlife is continuing to stock trout this spring. For the safety of MassWildlife staff, please do not approach staff while they are stocking fish. Don’t share a boat unless it is large enough so that all persons aboard can always remain at a minimum distance of six feet apart. Anglers and other paddlers in canoes and kayaks are reminded they are required to wear a life jacket through May 15. All MassWildilfe Wildlife Management Areas remain open to the public to enjoy for fishing, hunting, walking, birding, and other nature-based activities. MassWildlife encourages the public to visit lesser-known spots and explore the outdoors close to home. Massachusetts Fishing Licenses can be obtained online by visiting the MassFishHunt online portal.

Fortunately, the parking at Goat Island won't be an issue for most of the early squid season. Sticker parking enforcement is suspended until June 1 this year.

This should get blood flowing. A friend says he got squid from the docks in Edgartown last night. Another friend going tonight to check it out, I'll let you know if he gets them.

Nice, Gilligan. Please report back with an update.

Waiting for a break in weather to splash the boat.

The work around the Goat Island Causeway started in February because of the mild winter. They are making major improvements to Storer Park, replacing much of the concrete areas with grass, repairing the sea wall and building a Harbor Walk. It will be a different place . Much of the work is being done at low tide. It sounds like will take while.
