Misawa Port, Aomori, Honshu - Japan
#1
Hi,

I recently received a recommended fishing spot as follows:

Country - Japan

State - Aomori

Region - Honshu

Fishing Spot - misawa port

Instructions - Walk out on a fishing port with all these accesses to the ocean

Has anyone fished at this location? Please can someone confirm that this location is good for squid fishing.

Thanks, Glen

I will be finding out soon, Ill be in Misawa for 5 months and plan on doing as much fishing as I can. I can tell you that Okinawa and the surrounding Islands have plenty of squid fishing. One of my favorite spots is sunabe seawall in the town of Chatan near Kadena Airbase. Just go out Gate one Kadena turn left and then turn right at the very first stop light follow that road straight till you see the ocean and happy fishing. <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/us.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> :japan: <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/cool.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':th' />

Yes, I think it is a good spot for squid fishing. I was stationed in Misawa and used to go to the port almost everyday and I remember seing squid come up after my bait.

It is also good fishing for mackerel, when the bait fish start gathering you can tell this by the seagulls hitting the top of the water in big groups, get a lure that looks like a bait fish. The type of lure I used was like a painted lead weight. Cast the lure right near where the seagulls are and the Mackerel that are feeding will hit.

Lots of fun, I know this has nothing to do with squid but if you like bass fishing. Misawa has some great ponds to fish <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':th' />

PS Sea bass is also really big in North Japan <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Smile' />

Hey all. I am in Misawa and would like a better fishing spot then the ports. I am more of a lake or pond guy myself. I read that there are ponds with some bass. Can you guys please tell me where? That is my type of fishing!! I also wouldn't mind catching squid. What is the best way? I caught a nice size eel in Hache a few weeks ago but came up short last week, only got a few blow fish (which are poisoneous to eat unless you know to filet them). Some one please help!

hi luv2fish, you might have to wait a while for a response because not many japanese are currently contributing to the forum <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Smile' /> maybe you will start a trend and soon there will be lots of japanese squid fishers joining us! i hope so.

hi luv2fish, yes squid are easy to catch. if you search through these forums you will find plenty of tips that will work on most squid - whether those squid are in australia, USA or japan, it doesn't really seem to matter much.

hope you catch a few soon, cheers, glen <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/xyxthumbs.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':th' />

Hello am currently living in Misawa (7months now) , I fish at misawa port almost daily and have yet to catch a keeper only small fish.....does anyone know of a better fishing spot in Aomori area? or anywhere in Northern Japan? Plus, I have yet to see a squid....but I don't fish for squid so maybe I have just not noticed. I will start looking though and post comments for you squiders...

Take it easy.
