I started at 8 stop at 1:30am

Whenever you see squids doing that time to pack up and leave <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Smile' /> unless you got trebbles hooks ( not a big fan )

Btw I saw the same thing. They aggressive bite from 9 to 11ish then die down after 1230 you could see them in top of water everywhere but won't touch anything, a few lucky will get them.

When I saw that don't want to wait until the tide turns which is like 6ish ... Too late for me

It still too early for a peak runs anyway.

sfoxnh, when you talk about tide turn. Do you mean the beginning of the low and high tide? Does that mean it will bite hard when the tide turn to either low or high? thanks.

Yes, from my log, they often bites 2 hours before/after the slack tides.

I have not yet make it down to GI but fished Chatham on Sunday night. I was there for 3 hours from 9pm to midnight only got a handful. Others have the similar result as well. One gentleman also fished there on friday night said it was a different story that most go 1/2 of a bucket or more.

Plugging.. they are freaking everywhere.. not loads all over the place, but basically every well known spot I have fished has bass rolling through, they are moving.. but when you get into them they are alot.. average 3:1 schoolie to legal ratio.. funny thing is.. there is no one fishing for them!.. well at least the usually spots.. think summer spots. now if i am only that lucky with the squid.. been a poor year for me so far.

Thanks for the report dude.

I'll try some at my favorite spots sometime this week.

Every year, I am so addict to squid I forgot to go for those big critters comes in to chase those squids.

Asked Tung, he said the same thing as I <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Smile' />

I guess the squids actions make you hyper, imagine pull double squids on every drops <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Smile' /> Rather fighting 20# every 5-10 mins.

tym1, btw, plugging from boat or shore ? top water or swimmer ?

We were catching them last night but the are very small on average. I think I am too late, but the weather earlier this month was too raw for fun fishing. I will try again tonight but definately not so hot as I have experienced during the heavier runs in Newport.

Meeting plenty of great folks on the dock, I sish I'd have a chance to throw my cast net.

I live to read and study about fish, and also fishing. I tried to get my son to be an ichtheologist, and got close but not quite close enough. I dont fish as much as I used to now that I am older, but it shold be the opposite as I suddenly now have the time.

I was in Woods Hole last fall and read up on the squid fishing. I am determined to catch some squid there late April. I want to take my wife and son and they are both in on it. So of course my problem is how can I time it. I see a few guys on here that are very helpful.

So that is what it boils down to.. would any local help me and give me the go ahead when they show up at the dock? I would stay at the beautiful Woods Hole Inn. I have been thinking about this all winter. And yes, I love Calamari...

Hi Ken, good luck in the Hole. I'll probably be across on the Vinyard. To get ahead of the game bring small rods with 4lb test line for the best action. If you try it with even seven foot rods and 10lb test you will not do as well as if you use light sensitive rods. Sometimes Red Top Tackle shop in Buzzards Bay has some good jigs. I like small 3" or smaller jigs in pink, green, or orange. Bring a bucket to put your catch in or you can use zip-lock bags and bag as you go. Sometimes they will hit on the slack tide but it is usually better when the tide is running, just like other salt water fishing.

No squids on Cape Cod yet....probably not for another week. Water is still too cold and this weeks daily temps won't do much to improve this. Watch the temps at this site - http://www.ndbc.noaa...p?station=bzbm3 - when they hit 52-3º - start trying. Good luck!
